As it introduces other categories, it hopes to keep manufacturing close to California where it is based to minimize the costs and environmental impact of international shipping.
Another barrier is cost of production and distribution. Jaeger caveats that it’s also “not that bad” because “in beauty you buy big volumes, so the price per unit goes down. You can still make a profit.”
