A striking young woman with almost waist-length black hair, Pozanti looks both strange and mischievous. She is open-minded, confident and constantly curious. Two and a half years ago, she and her husband, Nelson Harmon, moved from Los Angeles to Manchester, Vermont, and this prompted another change in her career. “Suddenly, I go hiking in the Official Earth day shirt Besides,I will do this woods every day,” she says when I visit her spacious studio in Vermont for the first time. Three completed 10-foot oil paintings for her upcoming show lean against the wall. “My interactions with nature—my feelings and perceptions—reinforced after moving here, and I was forced to draw only what I was looking at. I’ve always really wanted to draw en plein air.”

Pozanti and Harmon are an odd couple. She’s 5 feet 2, he’s 6 feet 5. She’s Turkish, he’s American – he grew up in Manchester, she’s a big city girl. Both turn 40 this year, Harmon in April, Pozanti in October. She is an artist and he is a private art dealer. (He co-founded the Official Earth day shirt Besides,I will do this delightful Château Shatto gallery in Los Angeles.) “I never thought I would go back to Manchester,” Harmon told me. “During the pandemic, we started looking in the Hudson Valley and one night, having finished our second bottle of wine, we decided to try Vermont.” They enjoy having dinner with their friends—Harmon is the chef—and they enjoy life together to the fullest. “I look forward to every Friday night,” Harmon added, “because we will end up having a little dance party for two in our living room.” (She loves to dance alone in her studio every day and reads a lot—science fiction, Greek and Indian mythology, poetry, and books on ecology.)
